COMING HOME: THE MPILO AND MAKHOSI STORY
Winner of the 2021 International Wildlife Film Festival AUDIENCE AWARD, COMING HOME is a documentary feature about the translocation of two orphaned rhino calves in Zululand, South Africa to the Somkhanda Community Game Reserve. A dedicated team of conservationists from multiple organizations spent four years hand rearing, and protecting Mpilo and Makhosi for their eventual re-wilding in the African bush.
For Makhosi, Somkhanda would be a new home. For Mpilo, it was a return to the place of his birth. In 2017, Mpilo's mother was a victim of the rhino poaching crisis. Mpilo was left next to the body of his dead mother for days before being found and rescued. Coming Home is a film which attempts to show the realities of what tragedies have befallen Africa's natural heritage, and those passionate people who have dedicated their lives to its restoration and protection.

MALELANE
Saving Giants presents "Malelane", the story of a historic rescue effort to translocate five African elephants from inevitable death.
In June of 2020 five elephants broke out of their reserve in Mpumalanga Province, South Africa and began crossing a national highway. This posed an outstanding problem for South African authorities. Do nothing, and it was only a matter of time before a road accident occurred, which may come at the cost of a human life.
For the government, two options remained. The first, to shoot the animals. The second, to attempt a lighting fast emergency rescue effort to move the animals to safety.

In an attempt to save the animals' lives, a team of legendary conservationists, including Kester Vickery (Conservation Solutions), Dr. Dave Cooper (KZN Wildlife), Dr. Peter Rodgers, Dereck Milburn (Aspinall Foundation), and bush helicopter pilot Jana Meyer, mobilized a rescue party, with record setting speed. A project which would normally take months to plan, was mobilized in three days. The objective, to solve the problem by translocating the animals to safety before an accident or a rifle did.
"Malelane" follows their story of ingenuity and perseverance over those three days.
